We are Amazing Blazing Catering (ABC) from the Greater Houston Area.

I’m a military veteran and an ex United States Postal employee. I began doing festivals on the weekend.  My first festivals were in Port Arthur, Texas for the Mardi Gras event.  We had a successful outing and we continued to do more business without any promotional marketing.  When noticed that when customers came back, they kept saying the food was amazing.  This is how I came up with the name Amazing Blazing Catering.  After this, my confidence started soaring and I decided to work in my business full-time and quit working for the United States Postal Service.

We started off as a barbeque truck with the best sides. We cooked with fresh ingredients and did not use canned goods.  Currently, Amazing Blazing Catering has 6 members from different cities combined to make different styles of cooking.

Obstacles / Challenges – Finding the funding and purchasing the right food truck was a challenge for us. It’s a critical part of the business.  You must decide if you want a pulling trailer or a driving truck.  After deciding which direction you’re going to go with in deciding which truck, the next challenging decision is getting all the permits and licenses.  Knowing the codes of each city in the surrounding area of Houston can be a challenge when you are just getting into the business.  The price for each permit and license is different for each city.  It has been a rough start for Amazing Blazing Catering because we started out at a permanent location that wasn’t very lucrative.  Now, we’re out of the contract with being located at the permanent location and able to move around Houston and the surrounding area a lot more.

Success – Success to me is being able to grow your business and employ enough people to maintain and continue growing daily.

Advice – Make sure you research competition in your surrounding area and a need for the food you are selling. You have to venture outside of your comfort zone.  You have to find customers outside of family and friends.
